With reference to my confidential despatch

of the 5th May on the subject of the extradition proceed-

ings instituted by the Canton Authorities against Chung

Sau Nam, I have the honour to inform you that both parties

have now arrived at a settlement. The Kwong Tung Govern-

ment have abandoned the application for the extradition of

Chung Sau Nam who has on his part consented to judgment in

the civil action brought against him for the recovery of

the money which was the subject of the extradition charge.

Chung Sau Nam has accordingly been released

and the appeal to the Privy Council referred to in my con-

fidential despatch of the 19th March will not therefore be

proceeded with.
